Job Title: Medical Assistant Team Lead

Reports to: Nursing Manager

Department: Nursing Operations

Summary

The Medical Assistant Team Lead oversees the team assigned and is in charge of guiding, monitoring, and leading the group. The position is responsible for monitoring the team as well as inspiring positive communication so that they can work together toward achieving goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform all regular nursing duties per the current Medical Assistant job description, in addition to the Team Lead duties.
  • Identify areas for change/growth and develop methods to address them.
  • Meet with the Clinical Coordinator, Nurse Manager, and other Team Leads, as scheduled, to discuss the effectiveness of new policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Onboard, train, and mentor new Medical Assistants.
  • Train and validate current staff on new processes/procedures.
  • Support development activities through active participation with nursing staff in the identification of learning needs, training, and continuing education (i.e. Vaxcare, Coleman).
  • Oversee inventory management system at all clinic locations: order medical supplies and medications, conduct monthly audits, and transfer supplies from central supply to immediate access supply areas.
  • Visit each clinic location weekly to provide support, guidance, and inventory/audit requirements.
  • Share information with Clinical Coordinator and Nurse Manager regarding issues related to team members such as educational needs, equipment needs, or other support needs.
  • Role model Hunter Health’s Standards of Culture to the team, holding self and others accountable to them.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in a Medical Clinic setting preferred.
  • Certified or Registered Medical Technician, Medical Assistant, and/or Certified Nurse Assistant preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support required.
  • Prior experience with Electronic Medical Records software preferred.

  • Average Visual Abilities: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Working Conditions: Works in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually high. Potential exposure to infectious disease is possible.
  • Physical Strength: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Mathematical Ability: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
