What’s yours?Position OverviewProvides engineering technical expertise and project management to support and improve processing systems used in the manufacture of window fashions. Uses computer-aided software along with prototype building for product improvements. Designs, defines and evaluates tests to be conducted on processing systems to determine safety, durability and ease of manufacture. Analyzes designs and test results for feasibility. Previous Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering highly preferred.
What You'll Do
  • Work closely with operations team members, product development team members, maintenance team members and any other peers and customers.
  • Ensures that all existing equipment and processes in the assigned Product Line(s) are fully documented in SOPs/SW.
  • Writes standard work/ SOPs for new processes
  • Analyze, develop, configure and optimize processes from inception through implementation into operations.
  • Implement continuous improvement (Lean) tools to improve existing practices.
  • Assess processes and interpret data
  • Perform root cause analysis on top issues
  • Develop best practices, routines, innovative solutions to improve operational rates and quality of output.
  • Perform risk assessments
  • Engage in and lead Continuous Improvement activities focus on stream lining material flow, waste reduction and inventory minimization.
  • Generating and executing continuous improvement projects targets to reduce waste, improve product quality and reduce fabrication cycle time.
  • Uses Siemens NX CAD software to design prototypes and equipment.
  • Manage cost and timeline constraints
Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical and Industrial preferred). Previous experience in Process, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering (5-7 years) preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the design systems and capabilities of PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controls).
  • Basic knowledge of computer use and software such as, Word and Excel.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical, mechanical and industrial engineering.
  • Solid knowledge of the principles of engineering to develop and modify components and systems.
  • Solid knowledge of the selection and determination of materials used in production equipment, tool design and modification.
  • Solid knowledge of machinery design, process improvement methodology, industrial processes and procedures.
  • Solid knowledge of the full product line that is being produced.
  • Solid knowledge of the principles of the safe operation of each piece of production equipment.
  • Solid knowledge of project management from a conceptual design phase to implementation.
  • Solid knowledge of taking a component from conceptual design phase to prototyping, to first article component evaluation and modification, to the development of work instructions and trouble shooting.
  • Expert knowledge of machining to be able to design and build an equipment part or machine utilizing the most economical and durable goods.
  • Expert knowledge in communicating in both written and verbal form with other Engineers, suppliers and representatives of other departments.
  • Skill in safely operating shop and mill equipment such as, lathes, welders and punch presses.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective work relationships.
  • Ability to trouble shoot equipment malfunctions to repair production equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to analyze cause and effect relationships involved with various engineering designs.
  • Ability to synthesize information from various sources to arrive at a solution.
