Position Overview

Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge in a wide range of warehouse activities. Initiates and promotes the development of international shipping skills, customer service skills, leadership core competencies, and freight logistics skills. Promotes a positive atmosphere of continuous improvement throughout the international supply chain and warehouse. Handles complex questions involving domestic carriers, freight forwarders, and international processes/procedures. Applies judgment in the best interest of one Hunter Douglas.

What you'll do:

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. (These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.)

  • Prioritizes international shipments based on communication with international customer service and product management department. Ensures correct completion of international documentation. Coordinates the scheduling of carriers.

  • Leads continuous improvement teams for the international shipping department. i.e. IT and Internal/External Distribution areas.
  • Assists Warehouse Manager with negotiating carrier rates, rate quoting and carrier requirements or restrictions. Communicates all of the above with international clerks, customer service teams, IT and customers.
  • Responds to inquiries from customer service, product management department, IT and management. Research, resolve and communicate results in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintains and shares personal knowledge of all relevant import/export laws and procedures, tariffs and duties, licenses, INCO terms and restrictions with colleagues as appropriate. Provides support to other International clerks and IT.
  • Works with Logistics Associate to file and resolve freight claims and communicate results with International Customer Service team.

  • Compiles feedback on individual team member work performance and incorporates information into written employee work performance appraisals. Monitors and tracks daily attendance of team members and addresses performance issues within our corrective action process. Schedules manpower to include PTO and resource coverage. Assists in development and implementation of team objectives. Works at strengthening internal communications among all members. Schedules training for team members.
  • Ensures adherence to ISO guidelines by continuous training on how ISO procedures impact the daily work performed by clerks. Initiates and implements all changes in ISO procedures that affect the work performed by the department.
  • All other duties as assigned

Who you are

An employee in this position, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following:

  • Expert knowledge of all procedures and processes associated with scope of interaction.

  • Expert knowledge of all computers and programs associated within scope of responsibilities.

  • Expert knowledge of the concepts, business principles, and practices of physical distribution.

  • Solid knowledge in the inventory control and warehousing management processes as it applies to warehouse functionality, production/ fabrication applications, functionality and constraints within scope of interaction.

  • Solid Knowledge and ability to manage written documentation of all procedures and processes associated within scope of responsibility.

  • Solid knowledge and proven success of various coaching, developmental, motivational, interactive management techniques effectively supporting a team environment that communicates effectively, forms positive relationships internally and externally. Exhibits leadership ability. Assists in the employee performance evaluation process.

  • Solid knowledge in taking prompt and proper action within authorized scope meeting the cost effectiveness, quality control, performance standards, deadlines, goals, and directives of the department through a proactive approach to the business. Utilizes a root cause analysis approach to problem solving and takes appropriate action.

  • Ability to improve upon inventory / materials management processes for the business

  • Solid Ability to communicate both in written and verbal form.

  • Solid Ability to proofread numerical information to spot and correct errors.
