Humane Society Waterville Area is Hiring a Community Engagement Coordinator Near Waterville, ME

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for maintaining exemplary community relations and acting as a liaison between the shelter and the community it serves. The Community Engagement Coordinator is also in charge of the volunteer program and works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and planning committees in executing fundraising events in the local community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following

  • Developes recruitment, engagement and retention strategies for HSWA’s volunteer programming
  • Processes volunteer applications and time tracking
  • Oversee volunteers on HSWA property and ensures all volunteers have been through orientation to complete their duties (Collaborate with the Executive Director)
  • Identifies and develops opportunities for community group volunteer committees (4H, etc.)
  • Updates organizational Google Calendar with all community engagement activities (volunteer hours, fundraisers, school group visits, etc.)
  • Oversees development and implementation of community programming such as Little Rescue Readers, Slumber Pups, Doggy Day Trips, etc. in collaboration with appropriate staff members
  • Works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and planning committees on fundraising events
  • Ownership of social media marketing and crowdfunding strategy
  • Assists in outreach to relevant fundraising and media partners as needed
  • Collaborates in developing creative assets for HSWA & related event marketing
  • Helps identify additional opportunities for effective fundraising and/or community relations
  • Assist in coordinating pick up of community donation boxes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or 3 years of relevant experience
  • Prior shelter or veterinary experience preferred
  • Experience with public speaking and interacting with the public in a professional and positive manner
  • Proficient leadership, time management, conflict resolution and team building skills to ensure a cohesive work environment
  • Program/project and volunteer management experience
  • Proficient communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently accomplishing tasks and delegating tasks to appropriate team members
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a high stress and fast paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated, organized, with willingness to work a flexible schedule (some nights, weekends, or holidays)
  • Proficient with computer systems Windows, Microsoft Word/Excel, Bloomerang, Petpoint, Google Workspace, Canva and Social Media
  • Valid Drivers License and/or reliable transportation
