Responsibilities:
The Volunteer Coordinator duties will include scheduling and managing large groups of volunteers and day to day activities at the shelter.
The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and scheduling volunteers for fundraising events, including supply drives.
The duties will also include performing any volunteer orientations at the Director’s discretion.
Responsible for assisting with supervising volunteers and court ordered community service volunteers daily.
Must be able and willing to complete tasks including but not limited to daily cleaning of kennels and cages, laundry, dishes and other tasks as needed if volunteers are not available. Must be able to sit and stand for extended lengths of time, and be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Must be comfortable with working with cats and dogs of all ages and sizes. Able to read body language of animals is a plus.
The position will pay up to a minimum of 22 hours per week. (Tuesday 1:00-6:00, Wednesday 1:00-6:00, Saturday 11:00-5:00, Sunday 1:00-5:00, Monday 3:00-5:00)
Experience:
Proven experience in volunteer management or related field
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others
Experience in social media management for recruitment and engagement purposes
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals and animals
