This position is at a small rural animal shelter, the amount of animals we house at any given time varies. This position has a 15 hour maximum work week with bi weekly pay. The Humane Society of Ray County has volunteers that come into the shelter in AM and PM shifts generally around 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM. Ideally, we would like an attendant that can give our animals loving and compassionate care in 3-4 hour increments a few days a week. The kennel attendant has a flexible schedule but will require some weekend shifts.

The primary responsibilities of a kennel attendant include:

Feeding and watering animals, cleaning and sanitizing kennels and animal areas, bathing and grooming animals, administering medication per veterinary instructions, providing exercise and playtime for animals, monitoring the health and welfare of animals in the kennel and alerting board members to any signs of illness, assisting with adoptions and reunions of lost animals with their owners, transporting animals to and from vet appointments and maintaining accurate records of animals and their care.
