Summary of the lead position: The primary overall responsibility of this role is to inspire and drive the day-to-day performance of the assigned team in the areas of safety, quality, employee engagement, housekeeping standards, and production delivery. Under the supervision of the shift supervisor, the line lead will lead a team of press operators by monitoring the molding and trimming process of rubber mats from start to finish while complying with all safety, quality, quantity, and housekeeping standards.

Responsibilities of a lead

  • Ensure machines are in proper working order for production startup and shut down, call maintenance if equipment requires repair.
  • Proficient in operating all equipment in the plant including the ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Solid understanding of the cause & effect of Humane quality issues.
  • Communicate production and performance standards and expectations, then lead and motivate the team to meet or exceed.
  • Tracks and reports on production Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive safety and production efficiency.
  • Engages with shift employees to provide assistance and guidance where needed, consulting other departments (HR, Quality, Management, etc.) when needed to solve issues.
  • Train existing employees on new products or processes.
  • Ensure that the correct materials and supplies are set up on the line.
  • Strong desire to achieve while working within and supporting a team environment, doing whatever it takes to help fulfill our customer commitments.
  • Ensures that the product is made according to procedure and specifications.

Education/Skills Required

  • GED/HSED preferred
  • One or more years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Basic math and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including proficient skills in computers including Microsoft Office and SharePoint.

Work environment: Employees will be exposed to regularly high heat, rubber particles, dust, sulfur, fragrance oil, and latex. The noise level is high. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that the employee encounters performing essential functions of this job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
