We look for colleagues who Care, Dare and Deliver. ⠀ JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Baler Department: Warehouse Location: Los Angeles, CA Reports to: Admin Manager DLSE: Non Exempt Date Prepared: March 23, 2016 PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION OF JOB Responsible for loading paper trim from machine centers into floor shredder. Segregate and load bales into trailers for shipping. RESPONSIBILITIES Work safely at all times following Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), safe work practice policies and procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Responsible for ensuring paper bales are staged and loaded for shipment and not mixed. Operate and observe baler operation, some manual tie wrap required. Transfers bales from discharge area using forklift. Enters daily scrap in accordance with reporting procedures. Assists Maintenance in troubleshooting activities. Assist with monthly preventive maintenance. Advises maintenance of repairs required outside scope of Baler Maintain department cleanliness to SQF (SAFE Quality Food) standards. Uses forklifts to load bales onto containers Communicates with outside vendors for retrieval of loaded baled containers Carries out environmental compliance tasks, as appropriate to the position. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibility EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required Forklift Operator’s license or documented training course certification SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS Must have a minimum of 6 months of experience in the operation of a forklift (experience in a manufacturing environment) Should have a minimum of 3 months of past experience in the operation of a baler. Ability to read/write in English; capable of acting to written or verbal instruction Basic understanding of math concept to complete reporting requirements Must possess basic computer skills for use of systems: BPCS and Lotus Notes Ability to operate powered material handling equipment PHYSICAL DEMANDS Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Lift up to 35 lbs. to shoulder height, lift up to 70 lbs. total. Ability to climb onto and off of powered equipment (forklift) Ability to sit for intermediate periods during operation of forklift Bend and stoop frequently Ability to Stand and walk up to 8 hours ENVIRONMENT Will spend 100% of time on manufacturing floor with moderate noise levels which will require the use of personal protective equipment including (but not limited to) hearing protection, safety glasses and steel toe shoes.
