We are hiring a Controller for our Athen, GA branch.
The Controller plays a critical role in the financial management and control of the organization, a leading player in the Water Restoration industry. This position is based in Athens, GA, and reports directly to the President. While the primary reporting relationship is to the President, there will also be an indirect reporting line to the Controller of the Parent company.The Controller will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, optimizing financial processes, and supporting strategic decision-making. This is a confidential position that requires a high level of integrity and discretion.Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight: Provide leadership in all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting. Monitor financial performance against established targets and make recommendations for improvement.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, standards, and reporting requirements. Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and implement necessary changes in company procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring financial transactions are completed timely and accurately, including but not limited to customer invoicing, cash applications, payables, accruals, prepaid expense accounting, and other general accounting transactions
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks. Continuously evaluate and enhance internal control systems.
- Budgeting: Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop and manage budgets. Monitor budget performance and provide guidance for cost control.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop the finance team, providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the department.
- Financial Strategy: Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement financial strategies that support the overall goals and objectives of the company.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations monthly, following a prescribed format and presenting same to the Corporate Controller of the parent company
- Analyzing company financial performance and working with the President to prepare management reporting
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, a Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations.
- Exceptional financial analysis and modeling skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems. Sage Intacct experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
