Overview

Our fast-paced manufacturing firm is seeking a Slitter Operator. The Slitter Operator will be responsible for performing duties required to operate a table slitter to cut foam to desired thickness. This position will provide the successful candidate with the chance to apply their knowledge, learn new skills, and work as a team within a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate for this role has 6 months experience in the manufacturing sector, pays strong attention to detail, has excellent attendance, and is committed to workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Obtain the proper sized blocks to be cut and place them on the slitter table.
• Measure the block thickness and gauge the machine down to the size needed.
• Cut the slab from the blocks.
• Repeat the process to cut additional slabs as needed.
• Push full carts to the next processing area.
• Throw scrap pieces into scrap buggy.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to pull, push, and lift bales of fiber.
• Must be able to read, write, and complete production sheets after each order.
• Must be able to work overtime if needed.
• Prior Slitter/Saw experience is preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. 
• Must be able to use/read tape measure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

• Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
