HSL Care is Hiring a Nurse Aide Near Irwin, PA

Job Title: Resident Assistant FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Department: Health and Wellness Reports to: Director of Health & Wellness/Director of Dementia Care

Position Summary: In accordance with established company policies and procedures, is responsible for the delivery of assisted living services to all residents in the community to include assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), room cleanliness, scheduled activities, and dining services according to company policies, practices, standards, and individual service plan needs of each assigned resident.

Essential Functions, Experience, and Skills:

  • Provides personal care to residents to include, but not limited to, bathing, skincare, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, eating as assigned according to RA information sheet and service plan.
  • Provides general nursing care to include, but not limited to, vital signs, temperature, blood pressure, height, and weight as requested by H&W staff.
  • Answers all calls for resident assistance regardless of assignment and assists residents with needs according to HSL standards.
  • Documents appropriate information in the daily log as required. Completes all necessary forms.
  • Reports all resident and community concerns to shift supervisor and/or Director of Nursing immediately.
  • Confirms that assigned residents are in the dining room for all meals, assists with resident meals to include, but not limited to, meal service, setting tables, clearing the dining room, and utilizing the check-off roster as assigned.
  • Provides hydration and snacks according to the policies and procedures using the approved checklist.
  • Provides and participates in activities as scheduled according to the calendar.
  • Responsible for the removal of all wet and/or soiled laundry to the laundry and washes and dries it when needed or as directed.
  • Responsible for putting away resident’s clean laundry as per company policy.
  • Cleans and vacuums resident room and bathroom when needed daily on non -scheduled housekeeping days.
  • Makes beds upon resident arising for breakfast and turns back covers at dinnertime.
  • Strips beds when linens are soiled and make beds using clean sheets.
  • Empties trash on all shifts. Soiled incontinent products are immediately removed and placed in approved containers in the utility closet.
  • All Foleys, commodes/bedpans are emptied on all shifts. Commodes, bedpans, and urinals are disinfected.
  • Responsible for resident checks every 2 hours unless a signed waiver by resident or POA that is approved by the Supervisor/ and or Director of Nursing.
  • Ensures all residents on a toileting schedule are assisted to the bathroom and perineal care is given as needed on a regular schedule as assigned utilizing standard precautions.
  • Ensures all residents who have scheduled appointments are clean and shaven if necessary and all essential paperwork is available.
  • Vacuums and extracts as needed on all spills anywhere in the community.
  • Reports any storage of cleaning supplies in any of the resident rooms to the shift supervisor.
  • Confirms completion of extra assigned duties.
  • Reports any medications found in resident’s rooms that are not safely stored to the Supervisor/ and or Director of Nursing.
  • Reports any increased level of care needed that is not identified on the service plan for residents to Shift Supervisor and Director of Nursing.
  • Certifies that proper coverage of staff is in place to meet resident needs and receives authorization from Shift Supervisor before reporting off duty.
  • Attends and participates in staff training and in-services required for compliance with annual training for direct care staff.
  • Understands Time Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in an efficient manner.
  • Follows all company standards, policies, and practices to include, but not limited to, attendance, dress code, etc.

Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age or over.
  • Must be able to complete the Medical Technician class.
  • Must be a strong team player.
  • Must adhere to confidentiality procedures to ensure HIPAA and HSL standards are always met or exceeded.
  • Must perform all duties in adherence to established policies and procedures, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Must be able to maintain satisfactory attendance as per HSL’s Policy and be able to report for duty as scheduled.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to speak and write effectively in English.
  • Exhibit a caring, positive, smiling, humorous, professional attitude and demeanor with residents, families, and staff.
  • Offer commitment and adherence to company values and policies.

Nonessential Skills and experience:

  • High school graduate with a minimum of one year working with a senior population with a strong interest in medical administrative responsibilities.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience and exposure in caring for the geriatric population.
  • Customer service skills within an assisted living environment.
  • AA or college degree desired.
  • Current Certification in either American Red Cross or American Heart Association first aid and CPR.
  • Basic computer proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to frequent contact with residents, family members, staff, and vendors in a mostly indoor setting in an assisted living support environment. The noise level in the work environment is minimal to moderate.
