• Medical assistants (MA) who join HSHS Physician Enterprise are partnered with and supported by colleagues who have comprehensive, hands-on training and share the value of patient-fi rst initiatives.
• MA positions are offered in a variety of specialty departments or float pools at more than 30 locations in Illinois.
• Internal growth opportunities are offered for both medical assistant I and medical assistant II roles.

The Medical Assistant-Float is designated to float to clinics / departments based on the MA's competency level. The Medical Assistant-Float is required to complete appropriate competency and cross training to float to designated clinics / departments.

Performs a wide variety of activities that may include both direct patient care, as well as administrative and laboratory functions, depending on the size of the assigned area.

Direct patient care may include working with patients of all ages, in-person and over the phone, completing tasks involving the use of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation skills.

All patient care is provided under the direct supervision of the physician and / or mid-level provider. Medical assistants may also engage in reception activities, greeting and assisting patients and visitors, and help complete the business side of a patient visit.

This position requires driving to other HSHS clinics, in the region as assigned.

Qualifications : Education

Education

Completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.

1 or more years of Medical Assistant experience may be considered in lieu of completion of program, per department discretion.

Experience

One year of clinical experience is required.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

Medical Assistant (MA) Certification / Registration required from one of the following credentialing organizations :

• Certified MA from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
• Registered MA from American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
• Certified Clinical MA (CCMA) from National Healthcare Association (NHA)
• Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) from American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
• Podiatric MA Certified (PMAC) from American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA)
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from International Joint Commission on Allied Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO) Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) is required within 60 days of hire.
