The Senior Legal Counsel, Digital Legal Services, is a key role on HSBC’s Americas Digital Legal Services team and is either a fully remote or hybrid role (depending on applicant’s location). In this role, you will take the lead drafting and negotiating agreements critical to HSBC’s success. This role will also closely advise our stakeholders on contractual risk, third party risk, business continuity and other key legal areas.

Here’s what you can expect:

As our Senior Legal Counsel, Digital Legal Services, you will play a crucial role in guiding our stakeholders in the areas of third-party risk and business continuity and draft and negotiate critical agreements with our third-party suppliers, HSBC group members and customer facing agreements. This role will also regularly engage with HSBC Global and Americas team members to ensure our teams share best practices and remain aligned.

To be successful in this role, you’ll be a Member in good standing of the Bar in your state of residency and you’ll have significant experience with banking and third party risk and be an expert in drafting and negotiation commercial transactions. Ideally, you will also have experience negotiating and drafting privacy and information security terms and commercial real estate agreements. You’ll have excellent critical thinking skills and can always see the bigger picture while paying attention to detail.

For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $191,700 and $287,600.

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

  • You’ll be an active member of the state bar and in good standing
  • You’re a collaborative teammate, but also a self-starter who is able to work independently with an entrepreneurial drive
  • You’re an expert in negotiating commercial transactions at a financial institution
  • You have a lot of experience advising on FDIC, OCC and FRB Third Party Risk Guidance
  • You’ll have excellent negotiation and drafting skills and will have demonstrated the ability to take initiative and apply good commercial and legal judgment
  • A CIPP US certification is a plus or the demonstrated ability to negotiate privacy and information security provisions.
