HR Pals is Hiring a Culinary specialist Near Santa Monica, CA

Our client is seeking a talented and innovative Research and Development (R&D) Chef to join their culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new recipes, improving existing ones, and driving innovation within their organization.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, a creative mindset, and the ability to balance culinary artistry with practical considerations such as cost and scalability.

Responsibilities :

  • Recipe Development : Create new culinary concepts and recipes that align with the brand identity and target market.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, procurement, and production to translate concepts into commercially viable products.
  • Testing and Evaluation : Conduct thorough testing and refinement of recipes to ensure taste, quality, and consistency meet company standards.
  • Cost Management : Develop recipes that balance culinary excellence with cost considerations, ensuring products are financially viable.
  • Documentation : Maintain accurate records of recipe development, including ingredient specifications, cooking methods, and production processes.
  • Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities for process optimization and product enhancement through ongoing research and experimentation.
  • Communication : Effectively communicate project updates, challenges, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Travel (10%) : Ability to travel to manufacturing facilities around the world to support the launch of new products and improvement in production as needed.
  • Organization : Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to food safety standards and company policies.
  • Inventory Management : Ordering, receiving, and organizing materials, equipment and supplies.

Qualifications :

  • Culinary Expertise : 2 years of experience working in a professional kitchen environment preferred.
  • R&D Experience : Proven track record of success in recipe development and innovation, preferably within the food manufacturing or hospitality industry preferred; not required.
  • Creativity : Strong creative instincts and a passion for exploring new flavors, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
  • Collaboration : Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence key stakeholders.
  • Organization : Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adaptability : Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.

High capacity to learn.

  • Food Safety Knowledge : Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling, sanitation, and storage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PPT.

Position is 100% in-office. Schedule can be flexible within operating hours.
