Summary

We are currently seeking an Information Technology (IT) Systems Engineer that is eager and motivated. In this position, your focus will be on applications management. You will partner with other IT team members to cross-train on areas of expertise, as well as provide high quality support alongside those team members. This position provides next level support to the Service Desk, delivers on IT projects, and, creates and tests technical changes prior to production implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Standardize, configure, and operationalize desktop application deployments
  • Manage software licenses for all software
  • Provide full support for the AutoDesk, Bentley, and ESRI software platforms
  • Work with a variety of software and support teams to troubleshoot production issues
  • Implement and test after-hours application changes
  • Provide an escalation point for Service Desk for application issues
  • Manage and maintain the PDQ Deploy & Inventory platform to ensure applications are accurately updated in a timely fashion
  • Ensure over 300 desktop applications; including AutoDesk, Bentley, and ESRI software platform are being maintained properly
  • Manage the imaging, distributing and inventory tracking of workstations, monitors and other office-specific IT equipment
  • Provide hands-on support, IT training and troubleshooting for employees within your office, as requested by the IT Service Desk
  • Manage the office network, server, and internet environment
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to less experienced IT staff

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree (AA) from a two-year college or technical school, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is preferred, but not required
  • At least 5 years of experience in a technical support role across infrastructure management or application management
  • Experience in supporting a virtual workstation environment.
  • Working technical knowledge of workstation and server operating systems, including Windows, Linux variants, and VMWare
  • Excellent communication and people skills required
  • Good listening and problem-solving skills required
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects required
  • Ability to handle objections and counter those objections professionally required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule required
  • Aptitude in learning new technologies and IT concepts required
  • The employee must also be capable of driving/operating a motor vehicle for company business and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
  • Ability to communicate complex data in a clear and concise manner in both verbal and written communications. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex technological issues and deliver solutions and corrective actions to resolve problems. Requires use of analytical skills to complete duties. Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Application deployment automation experience required (SCCM or third-party solution)
  • Willingness to work independently as the last line of defense for application issues within the company, and to escalate issues to the software vendor, when necessary.
  • Engineering application support experience (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, etc.) preferred, but not required.
  • Certifications that align with experience are preferred to demonstrate a commitment towards excellence in a focused area. This may include workstation, server, application & automation, virtualization, and/or cloud certifications.
