Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Quality Technician, Calibration in our Torrance, CA. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Personnel are directly involved in the inspection of product in the in-process and final inspection areas.

• Use precision inspection tools and equipment, manufacturing drawings (blueprints), and procedures/instructions as it relates to calibration of equipment.
• Ensure acceptance of producton/calibration of equipment to specifications and requirements.
• Must have an overall understanding of quality conformance requirements regarding inspection and calibration.
• Computer skills will be needed for this position.
• Understanding and limited interpretation of work instructions, routers, blue prints, drawings and specifications.
• Perform calibration on gauges used by inspection and manufacturing.
• Must be detailed in documentation of results.
• Must be able to interact with customer and 3 rd party representatives and communicate calibration activities.
• Basic understanding of Federal Aviation Administration requirements and impacts
• Basic understating of MRB disposition for accuracy and acceptability.
• Active involvement in process improvement initiatives.
• Keep work area clean, safe and in orderly fashion.
• Prepare inspection/calibration reports as required by work instructions.
• Must be able to communicate with multiple departments including; Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, etc.

Knowledge and Skills

• Use precision inspection tools and calibration equipment, manufacturing drawings, and procedures/instructions.
• Ensure acceptance of product/equipment specifications and requirements
• Understanding and limited interpretation of work instructions, routers, blueprints, drawings and specifications.
• Prepare inspection documentation .
• Able to communicate with multiple departments.
• Basic understanding of Federal Aviation Administration requirements and impact
• Basic understanding of MRB disposition
• Intermediate computer skills
• Be able to select and utilize general inspection/calibration tools (micrometers, calipers, thread gauges ,tri-rolls etc.)
• Ability to compare purchase orders with vendor certifications .

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience quality inspection, lab or calibration
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
