Howard Brown Health is Hiring an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Manager Near Chicago, IL

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Manager is the organization’s leader providing oversight to the team responsible for the electronic medical record and clinical systems at Howard Brown Health. The EMR Manager is responsible for coordinating, communicating, facilitating, deploying, measuring Howard Brown Health’s electronic medical record and associated software and hardware. The EMR Manager partners with clinical and other operational leadership in daily activities and the Risk and Compliance Officer to ensure superior regulatory compliance.

This is an engaging leader who has a desire to serve in a mission driven Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to providing LGBTQ affirming healthcare and mobilizing for social justice.

This is a non-remote position.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit, train, evaluate, manage, motivate, and develop direct reports by communicating expectations, providing coaching and feedback, monitoring and managing performance and providing development opportunities on a regular basis
  • Manage staffing needs including requesting, identifying, interviewing, and hiring new staff members
  • Oversee and provide end users with EMR and clinical system support
  • Ensure data, network access, and back-up systems are compliant with HBH’s security standards
  • Oversee software and hardware implementations and upgrades related to the EMR and clinical systems
  • Initiate, evaluate and lead, in conjunction with Howard Brown Health Leadership, requests for EMR optimization and workflow improvements
  • Represent Howard Brown Health with EMR platform vendor
  • Research and recommend software and hardware optimizations
  • Develop, maintain, analyze, and communicate trending results of work queue management, system downtime, ticket response time, and other EMR service metrics
  • Ensure information is cascading through the department through periodic staff meetings and departmental huddles
  • Ensure compliance with collection of demographics, sliding scale, insurances, scheduling protocols and policies, and all HIPAA, OSHA, EMTALA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Work with leadership to design operational and financial strategies to drive efficiencies of the organization.
  • Manage department budget
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the organization’s business affairs and practice management plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree with five years of EMR Experience.

OR

Associates Degree, high school diploma/GED with ten or more years in EMR systems with three or more of those years in a leadership or supervisory role

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • EMR Experience
  • Ability to create a patient-centered environment that recognizes values and advances the organization’s mission
  • Experience in creating reports and analytics
  • Demonstrates knowledge on how to use metrics to manage and monitor service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Fundamental understanding of the business of health care and financial acumen
  • Strong customer service and client orientation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles
  • Ability to performs work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to skillfully handle complex issues and problems as they arise
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time efficiently
  • Willingness and desire to work with the LGBTQ community

Preferred:

  • Experience in FQHC or provider practice setting
  • EPIC EMR experience
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or lean concepts
  • Nursing degree (BSN or Associates) or Medical Assistant Certification
  • Eligibility to practice in the State of Illinois is required, preferred current Illinois nursing license
