Houston Zoo is Hiring an Audio Visual IT Specialist (107RF8) Near Houston, TX

The AV/IT Specialist provides professional, quality, and innovative audio-visual systems and service desk support. This person will work directly with the HZ Technology support staff to support and maintain HZI classroom technology, additional meeting rooms A/V technologies, and digital signage display systems.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitates AV operations in formal and informal learning spaces.
  • Responsible for assisting staff and external users with AV needs.
  • Provides technical support that ensures the proper operation, maintenance, monitoring, and testing.
  • and repair of networked AV equipment, HZI training computers, and AV control systems.
  • Troubleshoots Dante, Logitech, Crestron control processors, touch panels, routers, audio DSPs (Crestron and others), and Crestron peripherals to support HZI conference and event spaces.
  • Provides installation, configuration, maintenance, and support for workstations, laptops, printers, and all associated components, peripherals, and media.
  • Creates and updates help desk tickets and application-specific feedback lists as requested and required.
  • Provides basic network troubleshooting, including resolution of technical problems with LAN, Wi-Fi, and other systems.
  • Contributes to saving animals in the wild through reduction of waste, water, and energy use and inspiring guests and staff to take wildlife-protecting actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
