Houston Methodist Hospital is Hiring a Cardio technician Near Channelview, TX

At Houston Methodist the CardiologyDiagnostic Technician I position is an entry level Technician thatperforms electrocardiograms (12 lead EKGs) and Holter monitorapplications for both inpatient and outpatient exams.

This positionprocesses and transmits EKG and Holter monitor data to designatedsoftware applications. The Cardiology Diagnostic Technician Iposition ensures exams are available for physician interpretationfor completion of exam including paperwork and reconciliation ofexams.

This position collaborates with all members of the patientcare team.

PEOPLE ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

Promotes apositive work environment and contributes to a dynamic team focusedwork unit that actively helps one another to achieve optimaldepartment results.

Collaborates with all members of the patientcare team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patientcare information and data in a comprehensive manner.

SERVICE ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

Performsdiagnostic electrocardiograms (12 lead EKGs) and Holter monitorexams that require precise placement of electrodes to the assignedarea for accurate EKG data.

Proactively identifies issues and howto address them for optimumresults.

  • Provides care forthe physical needs of patients when conducting the EKG and / orHolter exams. Educates patients on the required care of themonitoring unit and electrode care who require inpatient oroutpatient Holtermonitoring.
  • Providesdirect assistance to physicians and other health care team membersduring diagnosticexams.

QUALITY / SAFETYESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

  • Identifies changesor abnormalities in EKG morphology when performing exams orprocessing data. Takes corrective action or communicatesimmediately when appropriate to proper personnel for the bestresults.
  • Reviews thequality of EKG tracings for the patient care team and interpretingphysician.
  • Ensures allpatient care equipment has had QC performed as required and is insafe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions tomanagement and regularly practices preventive maintenanceprocedures;

calls for service ifneeded.

FINANCE ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

  • Provides accurateand complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges atthe time service is delivered when applicable.
  • Uses resourcesefficiently; does not waste supplies. Selfmotivated toindependently manage time effectively and prioritize dailytasks.

GROWTH / INNOVATIONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participates indepartmental projects and shared governanceactivities.
  • Seeksopportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies witha focus on continual development as aTechnician.

EDUCATION

HighSchool Diploma or equivalent education (examples include : GEDverification of homeschool equivalency partial or full completionof postsecondary educationetc.)

  • Sixmonths of basic EKG and / or Holter monitor experience highlypreferred

LICENSES ANDCERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • CETCertified EKG Technician (NHA) within 18 months OR
  • CET Certified EKGTechnician (NPS) within 18 months OR
  • CCT CertifiedCardiographic Technician (CCI) within 18 months OR
  • CET Certified EKGTechnician (ACA) within 18 months OR
  • EKG ElectrocardiogramAssessment (MedCA) within 18 months OR
  • NRCEKG NationallyRegistered Certified EKG Technician (NAHP) within 18 months OR
  • EKG HM Houston MethodistElectrocardiogram Course within 18 months AND
  • BLS Basic Life Support(AHA)

  • Demonstrates theskills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assignedjob determined through ongoing skills and competencyassessments
  • Possessesbasic computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems toinclude Hospital / Radiology / Cardiology Information Systems andOffice software to maintain patient and examdocuments

  • Adapts tomultiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision includingorganizing workflow and actively participating in problemsolving
