High School graduate or GED equivalent. Successful completion of formal phlebotomy training program. Phlebotomy Tech or Medical Assistant (to include Phlebotomy) course completion certificate. Current AHA-BLS certification. Current ASCP, AMT, ASPT or NHA certification required. Utilizes a variety of venipuncture and capillary equipment and supplies. Utilizes centrifuge for separation of serum and/or plasma from cells. Knowledge of medical terminology appropriate for scope of duties. Computer skills and knowledge; good communication skills; ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately. Utilizes office equipment such as fax machine, copier, telephone, file cabinets, computers, printers, etc.
