PROGRAM SERVICES DIRECTOR

Houston Children's Charity is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Greater Houston’s underprivileged, abused, and disabled children who have been otherwise left behind. The scope of our support is limited only by the availability of resources. Our goal is to leave no legitimate request for assistance unanswered.

Working closely with the President & CEO and staff, The Program Services Director works within the vision, mission, and philosophy of Houston Children’s Charity and is responsible for managing all HCC programs. This role will involve daily contact with clients, agencies and organizations. This position reports to the President & CEO, Administrative Director, and coordinates with the staff leveraging their expertise and resources to support the organization’s goals. The position also creates and increases community awareness through presentations to various agencies and community outreach events.

The ideal candidate possesses skills in project management, understanding target audiences, proofing precision, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively with colleagues and vendors. This role is challenging, varied, and exciting.

Responsibilities

Programs

• Manage HCC individual family programs including “A Better Night’s Sleep”, Back2School, Chariots for Children, and Toy Distribution.

• Oversee the Programs Services Coordinator and any internships.

• Receive, validate, and record all incoming applications for HCC individual family programs.

• Receive, validate, record, and acknowledge all incoming applications for organizational funding and Chariots for Children.

• Maintain incoming and outgoing in-kind and funding information.

• Provide summary reports to President & CEO, Administrative Director, and Funding Committee as required for review.

• Annually prepare and provide to the President & CEO and/or Administrative Director summary reports of programs and services, including recommendations for future improvement and change.

• Oversee Sponsor assistants in coordination of “Adopt-a-Family” program.

• Identify, investigate, and implement new promotional partnerships that support Houston Children’s Charity’s mission.

• Update community calendars and partners about Houston Children’s Charity activities.

HCC Closet

• Oversee these duties through the Programs Services Coordinator.

• Serve as primary contact for HCC Closet for internal and external communications.

• Coordinate donated goods for HCC Closet including organizing and making ready for the public.

• Work with Volunteer Coordinator to staff HCC Closet on “open” days with volunteers as needed.

• Serve as point of communication for applicants and agencies.

• Ensure orderly participation by applicants.

• Ensure HCC Closet is kept neat, clean, and orderly at all times.

Chariots for Children

• Process applications – acceptance / decline / award letter.

• Research / Purchase Vans / Warrantees / Titles.

• Organize and plan Chariot Distribution days.

• Paperwork for any Chariot van and / or families.

A Better Night’s Sleep

• Identify applicants / emails / letters.

• Purchase beds, mattresses, frames, pillows, blankets & sheets.

• Distributions.

• Serve as a liaison between HCC and Texas Mattress Makers.

Toy Distribution

• Identify applicants / emails / letters / wristbands

• Liaison with GRBCC & Marines “Toys for Tots”

Other Duties & Responsibilities

• Professionally answer phones, communicate clearly and effectively.

• Assist teammates as needed.

• Operate a variety of standard office equipment; computer, computer software, copiers, fax, calculator, shredding

machine.

• Enter data and produce reports/lists from the prospect database.

• Maintain and Update Agency List and Mailing List databases in an ongoing manner.

• Correspond via phone, letters and/or email with donors, volunteers, and colleagues.

Other duties as assigned by the President & CEO

Qualifications

• Bilingual - Spanish

• Proven experience (3-5 years) prior experience in non-profit

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills required

• Demonstrated proficiency and skill with Microsoft Office applications as well as strong expertise with Excel

• Proven ability to develop and execute plans, as well as demonstrated presentation and communication skills in

formal and informal settings

• Be self-motivated, innovative, and collaborative, and excel as a multi-tasking, creative, analytical, and quick

thinker

• Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to multi-task

• Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment

• Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills

• High level of verbal and written communication skills

• The desire and ability to represent Houston Children’s Charity in a professional manner

• Travel as needed

and CEO.
