Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County is Hiring a Community Aide Near Kensington, MD

The Community Aide position serves as a key role within aiding Resident Services Staff in organizing and executing program activities. The individual will collaborate with families, children, and seniors, assisting with various tasks such as coordinating special events, conducting community outreach activities, facilitating workshops, arranging transportation for events, providing support at HOC host sites for the Montgomery County Senior Nutrition Lunch Program, and fulfilling other assigned responsibilities.

ESSENTIALS DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with all applicable federal and state regulations regarding the operation of various types of vehicles in transporting pupils to and from school, special events, field trips, etc.
  • Must be willing to drive up to 8 hours a day
  • Knowledgeable of typing reports and memos
  • Maintains scheduled route to established time and mileage or notifies supervisor of changes and/or delays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid Driver’s Licenses and Clean Driving Record (No accident preferred)
  • One year of experience driving a 15- passenger van
  • Minimum of one-year experience working with the disabled or at-risk populations.

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience, or completion of two years of college or technical.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities are essential requirements for this role.
  • The candidate must demonstrate the capacity to work autonomously, adhere to deadlines, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Must have good customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact well with people of varied backgrounds.
  • Able to work up to four evenings and one-weekend day per month
  • Help assist passengers on and off vehicle

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Low income residents in Montgomery County with the above qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Pay: $36,873.00 - $50,821.00 per year
