TITLE: Outreach Coordinator

Pay Type: Salary

FLSA: Exempt

COMPENSATION: $60,000 – $65,000

REPORTS TO: Crisis System Manager

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:

Housing Forward is a backbone organization that leads the development of an effective homeless rehousing system. In partnership with 100 public, private, and nonprofit institutions, we make the experience of homelessness in Dallas and Collin Counties rare, brief, and non-recurring.

Housing Forward believes that effective solutions to homelessness are created with communities historically impacted by the systems we are attempting to transform. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of the All Neighbor’s Coalition Coordinated Outreach including General and Encampment Outreach. This role will provide day-to-day coordination of outreach activities and serve as a lead to outreach teams supporting Encampment efforts. This includes maintaining any data tracking and project management tools and facilitating ongoing coordination calls.

This position is grant funded and has an expected end date of September 30, 2025.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Crisis System Manager, the Outreach Coordinator will:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for Coordinated Outreach staff.
  • Provide on the ground support at encampments by:
    • communicating daily activities
    • coordinating with external partners
    • problem-solving issues that arise
    • providing technical assistance on the voucher and housing processes
  • Serve as liaison for the Housing Forward Landlord Engagement Team and Housing Case Managers working on encampment decommissioning. Ensure continuity of communication with a focus on accelerating housing placements.
  • Send CAS referrals in the Homeless Management Information System for neighbors living in an encampment that is selected for decommissioning.
  • Maintain accurate and real time data on Coordinated Outreach tracking and project management tools, including encampment By-Name Lists (BNLs). Provide updates on progress at weekly Leadership meetings.
  • Provide support to the Crisis System Manager on planning for decommissioning and theimplementation of Coordinated Outreach, including preparing for ongoing workgroup and leadership meetings by communicating pertinent updates, data, risks, and wins.
  • Participate in CAS Team meetings, lead and participate in Encampment and Outreach coordinating meetings and attend CoC Workgroup meetings as needed.
  • Acknowledge and maintain a focus on racial equity within their work.
  • Stay up to date with Crisis Response System best practices and coordinate with Housing Forward’s CAS, Housing, Housing Location, and Performance Management teams to facilitate program enhancements, training, and capacity building.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Proficient in project and or program management
  • Previous experience with homeless, housing, or crisis response system preferred
    • Ability to recognize and reflect on their own bias and direct work to help ensure a focus on racial equity
    • Flexible problem solver with the ability to address unforeseen circumstances
  • Systems thinker
  • Strategic and facilitative leadership skills
  • Results-oriented self-starter with strong motivational skills
  • Excellent standards of customer service and professional communication

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4 Years or more with experience in human services related work or another related field.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid state issued driver’s license and car insurance. Please note that travel is required on a limited basis.
  • Must be flexible to work at different sites as scheduled.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Housing Forward considers normal hours of operation Monday – Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm. Some night and weekend meetings might be required to meet the needs of partner agencies or to represent Housing Forward at community meetings.
  • Employees are able to work both remotely or in the office. Current Housing Forward guidelines state that employees must work at least 3 days per week in the office, but this is subject to change.

COMPENSATION:

  • The salary for this position is $60,000 - $65,000.
  • Housing Forward has a flexible PTO policy for all full-time employees. The office is officially closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, & Christmas Day. Housing Forward has MLK Jr., Juneteenth, and Election Day as Days of Service.
  • This position is eligible for employer-provided benefits including:
    • Housing Forward pays 90% of employee Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance and 50% of Family Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance.
    • Housing Forward provides Basic Life Insurance as well as Short and Long Term Disability Insurance
    • Housing Forward will provide a laptop. We will additionally provide the applicant with a phone and/or hot spot if needed.
