We are looking for an energetic QA Technician to come join our team in Hogansville, Georgia. The QA/Laboratory Technician is responsible for maintaining production policies and programs, ensuring conformity of the raw materials, and finished goods are in accordance with established quality standards and customer specifications. The technician will also ensure that proper testing procedures are utilized and in compliance with production specifications. In addition, this position will also be responsible for the maintenance of Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring and collecting quality data on all products to ensure product specifications, quality and food safety requirements are met and maintained.
  • Use established test methods for proper testing.
  • Communicate with QA staff, production management and line workers regarding quality issues.
  • Maintain documentation for traceability.
  • Perform line checks to ensure proper formulas, packaging, and production code. 
  • Assist production and warehouse personnel with daily issues and/or problems.
  • Assist in management all non-conforming products by isolating product and properly documenting deviations. 
  • Complete data entry for all product produced as well as distribution of paperwork to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in resolution of internal and customer product complaints by ensuring test results in a timely manner.
  • Assist in conducting quality and food safety inspections as requested by supervisor.
  • Report any safety, machinery, or equipment issues to management.
  • Responsible for providing periodic status updates of activity.
  • Utilize lot tracking software to remove ingredients and packaging from inventory.
  • Determine laboratory equipment and chemical needs and maintain laboratory inventory.
  • Assist in the inspection of incoming ingredients. 
  • Responsible for GMP training and laboratory safety.
  • Collect and send samples for microbiological testing (finished products and environmental). 
  • Report deviations to direct supervisor.
  • Work with technical department to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in food manufacturing plant.
  • 1-2 years of quality control or quality assurance experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to apply mathematical concepts and excellent problem-solving skills. 
  • Proven ability to work independently with little supervision. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of FDA, USDA, state regulations preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Robust computer literacy. (Acumatica knowledge a plus)
  • Willingness and flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
  • Prior experience in a laboratory environment preferred.
