Hour House in Charleston, IL is seeking to hire a Community Recovery Navigator for Housing Unstable Youth and their Families with SUD. A Recovery Navigator draws upon their personal recovery experience to carry the message of hope and recovery and facilitate empowerment by providing outreach, encouragement, linkage to resources, and recovery coaching to participants seeking recovery from substance use.

Responsibilities and Duties
Recovery Navigators are individuals in recovery from Substance Use Disorder (SUD) who work in the community building relationships with those with active SUD and those in recovery. The ability to work with those who have SUD and share your experience is vitally important to your success in this position. Furthermore, the following qualities and skills are necessary for this particular Recovery Navigator position: stable personal recovery of no less than 2 years including a practiced relapse prevention plan, stable community support system, friendly and personable , conversationalist, leadership skills, organization skills, basic understanding of ethics, boundaries and confidentiality, ability to tell personal story in long and short version, well groomed, adequate reading and writing abilities for the position, public speaking abilities, desire to work with others with OUD/SUD, Drivers License, and HS Diploma or GED,.This will include assessing clients need for care, coordinating with outside community resources, other treatment teams, and assistance with appointments.
Recovery Navigators will complete documentation, acquire information about community groups, and outside community resources that will be beneficial to clients. Navigators will work to build relationships with clients while assisting and coaching clients in identifying their interests and goals while navigating their recovery process.

Qualifications and Skills
Recovery Navigators must have a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of uninterrupted recovery from a substance use disorder, be 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and be able to pass all background checks. Additional competencies needed are reading skills, computer skills, people skills, dependability, trustworthiness, and self-motivation to excel.
Certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) is required within one year of employment. Training will be provided.
