The Mechanical Foreman lays a key role in field operations. The Mechanical Foreman will assist in directing on-site workers as well as a liaison between the workers, supervisors, and GC's to represent Houck in a positive manner. This is a field working position with the expectation that job site safety is at the utmost importance. The Mechanical Foreman will report directly to the Superintendent or Project Manager.

Essential Functions
Assist on projects by performing tasks under the supervision of the Superintendent or Project Manager while providing onsite leadership on projects by overseeing the installation of work and procurement of materials. This employee shall be responsible to keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion. They will also demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment.
Train and mentor millwrights and welders.
Communicate with customers during project execution, and to sell additional services.
Install, service or maintain industrial machinery, equipment, or systems
Install piping and fluid handling systems
Install, modify or service conveyor systems
Build, install or modify duct systems
Metal fabrication duties, including cutting, grinding, etc.
Demolition of equipment, machinery, or structures
Basic civil projects, including concrete repairs, boring, core-drilling, wall patching, etc.
Structural steel erection or modification, including mezzanines, platforms, supports, etc.
Read and comprehend various schematics.
Experience directing jobs and teams, a plus.
Should be service and customer-service oriented.
Skills/Qualifications
Comprehension of blueprints, schematics, and specifications
Ability to develop material lists and determine equipment necessary for the project
Use of hand and power tools
Use of measuring devices
Crane signaling
Proficient with common welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW) - hold or have held welding certifications
Cutting tools and techniques, including oxy-acetylene torch, plasma, jet-arc, etc.
Experienced in machine/equipment service and repair (i.e. bearings, drives, shafts, etc.)
Proficient in equipment alignment and leveling techniques
Equipment operation, including scissors and boom lifts; all-terrain, shooting boom, and industrial forklifts
Ability to work at heights from ladders or work platforms
Pipe bending, fitting, threading, and welding
Understanding of different materials (5.S., C.S., Al, etc.)
Familiarity with ductwork systems and typical installation techniques
Operation of service trucks and non-CDL trucks
Complete tasks independently with supervisory oversight
Comprehends and practices safe working practices according to Company policy and customer requirements
Computer/smartphone operation, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Paperwork and documentation, including timesheets, PO Requisitions, etc.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this position, the Mechanical Foreman is required to:
Will be required to regularly stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and ladders.
Will be required to regularly drive.
Regular lifting and moving of up to 50 lbs. Seldom lifting of up to 100 lbs.
Will be required to work indoors and outdoors; will be exposed to various weather conditions, including both cold and heat.
May be exposed to persistent excessive noise and fumes, gases, or chemicals.
Travel
Travel is very often. Travel to job sites, visiting with customers, etc,
Out of state travel and overnight stays are occasional
Educations and Experience
Highschool diploma or GED
Proven experience working in the mechanical industrial field
Individual has 2-5 years' experience and or has a knowledge base equal to a person of 2-5 years' experience.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
