Hotel Madison is Hiring a Room Attendant Near Harrisonburg, VA

Position Summary

Clean guest rooms and suites to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and service. Responsible for reporting any maintenance deficiencies and handling guests’ requests. Ensures the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms and suites. Be familiar with all hotel services to respond to guest inquiries accurately. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with departmental policies, services, procedures and standards. Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Clean corridors, lobbies, stairways, elevators and lounges; as well as, guest rooms.
  • Organize work schedule from the room status list, arrivals and departures.
  • Distribute linen, towels and room supplies using wheeled carts or by hand.
  • Restock room supplies such as drinking glasses, soaps, shampoos, writing supplies, mini bar and other.
  • Replace dirty linens with clean items.
  • Inspect and turn mattresses regularly.
  • Store all dirty laundry in line with company policy.
  • Monitor guest laundry bags.
  • Replace laundry bags and slips.
  • Check all appliances in rooms and ensure all are in working order. Complete maintenance requests, as needed.
  • Realign furniture and amenities according to prescribed layout.
  • Respond to guest queries and requests.
  • Respond to calls for housekeeping problems such as spills, missing items, and broken glasses.
  • Deliver any requested housekeeping items to guest rooms.
  • Remove room service items.
  • Organize and restock cart at the end of the shift.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of guest rooms.
  • Follow all company safety and security procedures.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
  • Observe and report damage of hotel property.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Be sure to perform, execute, as well as adjust to other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and education requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge of cleaning sensitive materials.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Working knowledge of operating cleaning equipment.
  • Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend throughout entire shift required.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30lbs).

  • Ability to communicate with residents and employees.
  • Able to work unsupervised.
  • Able to maintain a professional manner at all times.
  • Displays integrity and honesty.

  • Demonstrates attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Able to follow and adhere to standard policies and proedures.
  • Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Hotel Madison standards.
