We know that it’s not all about the money, but ultimately we work to get paid. Payroll is critical, but something that doesn’t get much thought until payday. As Director of Payroll, you’ll swim in payroll processes and love every minute of it. You will, Manage the distribution, coordination, and completion of payroll and payroll tax. Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to ensure proper internal control and integrity of payroll records. Responsible for ensuring company is in compliance with rules and regulations for payroll related matters.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Ensures payroll processing deadlines are met, the payroll records are accurate, internal payroll policy/procedures are followed, and are in compliance with SOX requirements.
• Ensuring garnishment, wage deductions, DLSE, levies, and child support payment requests are in compliance with the requests.
• Establishing and implementing controls to ensure integrity of payroll and payroll tax reporting.
• Managing the reconciliation of W-2 balancing of employee data.
• Overseeing all payroll, payroll taxes, and related General Ledger functions
• Manages payroll system issues and off-site hosting.
• Primary liaison between the Company and payroll software providers.
• Primary contact for Leads all system upgrades and improvements.
• Oversees all payroll, payroll taxes, and related General Ledger functions.
• Oversees the payroll reporting, including account reconciliation and variance analysis, to support business needs.
• Identifies payroll compliance rules, regulations and procedures and works with all parties (internal and external) to ensure Company is in compliance in a timely matter.
• Manages department deliverables, provides leadership, guidance, and supports to staff members through effective goal setting, performance management, and professional development.
• Creates a service oriented environment to meet the needs of internal/external customers.
• Recommends improvements and develops strategies to improve overall department effectiveness and efficiency.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• A bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience.
• 10 years of multi-state payroll experience, preferably in retail industry.
• 5 years of supervisory experience in a payroll/accounting department.
• Strong understanding and experience with payroll taxes; payroll systems; and payroll compliance issues.
• Strong payroll processing skills and working knowledge of MS Excel.
• Needs to be well organized, proactive, detail oriented, and have solid time management skills.
