Postbac Researcher/ Research Assistant

Job Summary:
Exciting opportunities exist for a Research Assistant (RA) or Post-Baccalaureate Fellow in Dr. Lionel Ivashkivs research laboratory at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Weill Cornell Medical College. The RA or PostBac Fellow will participate in basic and translational research projects in immunology, inflammation and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. We investigate cellular and molecular pathways that activate innate immune cells such as macrophages, and the role of inflammation in tissue damage, repair and stem cell function. The Ivashkiv laboratory uses cutting edge immunology, molecular biology and genomic techniques. These positions provide opportunities to develop independent projects and obtain training and experience to prepare for graduate or medical school; the Post-Baccalaureate Researcher Program www.hss.edu/post-baccalaureate-training-program.asp offers more formal training in science and opportunities to present research at conferences and write manuscripts for publication. Positions are available beginning approximately September 2022 and a two year commitment is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Molecular and Cell Biology.
• Experience in relevant laboratory research.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
