Hospice Foundation of Greater Baton Rouge is Hiring a LPN, Nights (Inpatient Unit) Near Baton Rouge, LA

For over 35 years, The Hospice of Baton Rouge has been meeting the end-of-life care needs of individuals throughout our 7-parish area and is the oldest continuously operating non-profit hospice provider in Baton Rouge.

The Hospice of Baton Rouge is seeking a Full-Time LPN for our Inpatient Unit, The Butterfly Wing. Hours for this position require working rotating, 12-hour shifts, weeknights and weekends, 7PM – 7AM.

  • Minimum 2 years LPN experience in either an acute care or home care setting a plus
  • Current Louisiana LPN Licensure
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Hospice Experience Preferred
  • Use the nursing process to follow established nursing care plan in accordance with established policies and standards of care
  • Provide high quality care to patients, works with the families and other primary care individuals
  • Maintain records, reports, and forms that are accurate, timely, and contain quality content per documentation policies
  • Anticipate patient/family needs and utilize the interdisciplinary team and community resources appropriately
  • Anticipate and initiate nursing interventions to prevent complications and alleviate symptom of discomfort so an optimum quality of life may be maintained
  • Anticipate and meet emergency or crisis situations both physical and emotional
  • Teach the patient and family regarding the plan of care, its goals, and the implications of the diagnosis and prognosis
  • Interact with all members of the interdisciplinary team and provides nursing aspects to help plan the total needs of the patient/family
  • Triage nursing calls related to patient care and follow-up with necessary documentation and action
  • Accept verbal orders, including telephone orders, from a licensed physician or other authorized prescriber in accordance with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing rules on delegation
  • Maintain accurate and current records, reports, and forms as per documentation policies
