Referral Specialist Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm Referral Specialist Position Summary: The Referral Specialist provides a wide spectrum of Customer Support services, flexibly working to meet the needs of both the Referral and Customer Support Departments. The position focuses on excellent customer service to internal and external customers, timely telephonic response to callers, and oversight of the referral process. Referral Specialist Position Duties & Responsibilities: Reviews, monitors, and serves as subject matter expert of the electronic referral process for all Communities. Oversees process to obtain patient records to determine eligibility and assist in admission of patients. Collaborates with Medical Records to ensure received patient information is accurate and complete. Reviews information in electronic medical record for accuracy. Maintains efficient referral processes by developing partnerships with community referral sources. Education internal and community partners as needed to ensure a smooth referral process. Provides exceptional customer services, as demonstrated by good phone etiquette, courtesy, and a focus of customer convenience and satisfaction. Conveys care, concern, and competence when responding to callers’ needs, distress, and requests for assistance. Communicates in a clear, concise and timely manner, practices active listening skills, assertive communication, and responds promptly to request for assistance. Works to effectively address external customer inquiries, complaints and service delivery issues, in collaboration with clinical leadership.Works effectively to initiate referrals.Maintains and updates departmental resource material as required. Completes other tasks as needed to meet the needs of the department and organization. Referral Specialist Position Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree in a business-related field preferred. Previous customer service experience of business office operations experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to build professional relationship quickly and collaboratively. Ability to work with and communicate at all levels of the organization fluidly. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple, competing priorities with great attention to detail and accuracy. Maintains confidentiality with all patient details. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software systems
