The Medical Records Review Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our electronic medical record system.

This individual will be responsible for reviewing both external and internal medical records, inputting relevant data into our electronic database, and coordinating records from various providers.

The role will focus on capturing key information related to patient diagnoses, associated medical data (e.g., imaging studies, lab results), and recommending additional tests or procedures as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities : None. Duties / Responsibilities : Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, and relevant state and federal laws.

Review external and internal medical records for all patients, particularly new patients. Input diagnosis information and associated data into the electronic medical record system.

Analyze imaging studies, lab results, and other diagnostic reports to justify patient diagnoses. Collaborate with healthcare providers to recommend additional labs, imaging, and tests based on patient needs.

Maintain an organized and updated problem list within the electronic medical record system. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies related to medical record documentation.

Communicate effectively with internal staff and external providers to obtain necessary medical records and information. Required Skills / Abilities : Physical, sensory, and cognitive abilities sufficient to perform essential functions.

Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Refined oral and written communication skills. Refined acumen working in a highly-matrixed integrated healthcare system.

Proficiency in healthcare information systems and software. Administrative and management skills.. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Good interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills. Education and Experience : Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field (for Nurse Practitioner roles) Current licensure as a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner required.

Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements. Physical Requirements : Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing, bending and moving.
