In your role as an engineer at Horizon Surgical Systems, you will design components and systems (hardware and software) as part of a complete product subjected to FDA regulations. Your design will be subject to safety and efficacy requirements.

Required Qualifications and Abilities:

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to:

• Participate in and influence the design of a novel machine vision system for surgical robotics applications;
• Working closely with product teams to understand user requirements and translate them into technical specifications;
• Lead the design, implementation and testing of data and image acquisition software, processing algorithms and hardware communication protocols;
• Implement, test, and benchmark OCT and camera system performance;
• Perform rapid software prototyping and design iterations to validate concepts;
• Follow medical device design and development processes to allow traceability and team-wide collaboration; and
• Work collaboratively and efficiently in a fast paced start-up environment with minimal supervision and guidance

Required Qualifications

• B.S. degree in software engineering, computer science, vision science, or a related discipline
• 5 years’ experience in optical imaging, image processing or related disciplines
• Expert in C/C and at least a familiarity with CUDA and Python
• Prior experience with high data rate and low latency systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with OCT systems and/or high throughput digitization systems
• Experience working with camera hardware and communication interfaces
• Experience with common image processing algorithms (debayering, distortion correction, CLAHE)
• Experience with stereo vision systems
• Prior experience working in regulated environments (e.g. medical, automotive, aerospace)
• Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams
