The Lead Charge Nurse is responsible for coordinating the delivery of nursing care through the utilization of the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of the individual patient. The provision of care includes direct care along with the delegation and supervision of all nursing care in accordance with the applicable Nurse Practice Act. The Lead Charge Nurse is responsible for coordinating nursing unit activities related to patient care. This position participates in patient and family education as needed and provides leadership and clinical guidance by working with and supporting the nursing staff and other ancillary personnel. The Lead Charge Nurse participates in the interdisciplinary review process for patients, incorporating the information into the plan of care and the education plan for the assigned patients.

  • One (1) year of medical/surgical hospital experience required.
  • Two (2) years of acute care nursing experience preferred.
  • Critical care experience preferred.
  • Previous Charge Nurse/Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment required.
  • Current BLS certification required. Current ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire.
