Hope Youth is Hiring a Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) Worker- Part Time Near Amityville, NY

Hope For Youth has openings for a Community Psychiatric Supports and Treatment (CPST) Worker in our CFTSS Department. Hope For Youth is a nonprofit organization specializing in child welfare services. For over 50 years, Hope For Youth strives to provide positive outcomes for children, adolescents, and families. A CPST Worker would assist children and their families achieve stability in their home, set goals, and create interpersonal relationships. This person would also provide crisis management and counseling. This position is part time with flexible hours based on the needs of the program and clients.

Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) services are goal-directed supports and solution-focused interventions intended to address challenges associated with a behavioral health need and to achieve identified goals or objectives as set forth in the child's treatment plan. CPST services include the activities necessary to correct or ameliorate conditions discovered during the initial assessment visits. CPST is a face to face intervention with the child/youth, family/caregiver or other collateral supports. This is a multi-component service that consists of therapeutic interventions such as counseling, as well as function OLP, to address identified rehabilitative needs with a comprehensive treatment plan. Services are delivered in a trauma informed, culturally and linguistically competent manner.

To be a successful CPST worker you must become able and willing to do the following always:

  1. Knowledge of and compliance with oversight agency regulations and documentation requirements and be able to function within the policies and procedures as outlined in program practice guide and employee manual
  2. Work within an interdisciplinary team to assist client in their overall functioning and achieve desired outcomes
  3. Attend trainings and professional development as assigned
  4. Attend meetings as assigned
  5. Perform related and other tasks as required by HFY policy, oversight agency and other regulations

How you will generally spend your time in this job:

  • 70% Direct client therapeutic contact including transportation
  • 20% Case documentation, reports, case related meetings
  • 10% Staff meetings/supervision/training

Minimum requirements include:

1. Must have a Bachelor's Degree or higher

2. 1 years experience working with children/adolescents and families

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

4. Driving; Driving positions require NYS License, in good standing and drivers must be 21 years of age or older.

Access to own reliable vehicle for regular use for community and home visit and client transport

5. Demonstrated computer literacy including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record system, upon hire, 10e11.

6. Physical Requirements: Operate a motor vehicle carrying up to ten (10) children and youth, lift/move up to fifty (50) pounds, escort children and youth into the community using stairs when necessary, restrain a child or youth during a crisis, read/write reports and log entries, walking/standing for prolonged periods, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, repetitive wrist/finger movements, driving own vehicle
