Job Description –STRTP (Short Term Residential Treatment Program

Reports to: House Manager /Executive Director/ Administrator

Shift Available:

  • Mon - Wed: 1pm -8pm & Sat - Sun: 4pm-12am

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of clients
  • Monitors and ensures security, safety, health and housekeeping standards
  • Meal preparation
  • Observes signs of emotional and physical illness of clients and makes emergency referrals when required
  • Supervise all activities involving minors
  • Advises minors on proper hygiene and behavior
  • Provides counseling and guidance on an individual basis or in a group setting
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individual and group activities
  • Translates (oral/written) communications when required to serve departmental needs
  • Administration of discipline and setting limits for behaviors
  • Administration of medication as needed
  • Observe client's conditions and behaviors, document or take notes for significant issues that occur and notify management
  • Report any occurrences to on coming shift, as appropriate
  • Attend mandatory monthly trainings
  • Must meet training requirements specified in section 87065.1(g), Section 87065(d) applying the "Reasonable and Prudent Parent Standard" as referenced in Section 87001(r)(1) and specified in the Welfare and Institutions Code Section 362.05 and727.
  • Must apply the reasonable and prudent parent standard as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The STRTP Support Specialist/Direct Care Specialist shall meet at least one of the following qualifications:

  • Must be COVID-19 Vaccinated prior to employment.
  • Have a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree.
  • Have a valid Child Development Teaching Permit.
  • Completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
  • Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
  • Have a valid vocational training certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journey person who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth as a mentor, athletic coach, teacher, vocational coach, tutor, counselor, or other relevant experience as determined by the department
  • Previously been employed as a full time staff or served as a volunteer at a group home, short term residential therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program for at least one year.
  • Relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor, or caregiver or other relevant experience as determined by the department.

At a minimum, a direct care staff shall demonstrate all of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of children served in a children's residential setting.
  • Skills and ability to engage and develop rapport with children who have varying backgrounds·.
  • Skills and ability to provide consistency and behavioral limits through relationship-based interventions.
  • Skills to communicate effectively with the ability to solve problems in a collaborative manner.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Please Note: All candidates considered for hire must present evidence that he/she is physically capable of handling the job requirements and meets all of the minimum job qualifications. All certifications and credentials shall be verified by administration prior to hire.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
