Job Description: Maintenance Laborer

Job Status: Hourly

FLSA Status: NA

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, Weekends

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Travel Required: 0%

Positions Supervised: None

POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Laborer assists in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair duties while maintaining environmental and safety compliance at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non-compliant activities.

Perform preparatory work for maintenance activities, including gathering equipment, materials and supplies, loading and unloading materials, and laying out materials and equipment for projects.

Performs a variety of routine physical labor tasks as assigned.

Performs cleanup at the end of the day or when the job is completed, including picking up tools, spills and debris, cleaning work areas and performing touch-up work as needed.

Perform Fire Watch duties as needed to support the maintenance team.

May operate a vehicle, forklift or tractor.

Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.

Other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).

Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical maintenance is encouraged.

Ability to take direction and learn in a hands-on environment.

Ability to safely operate mobile equipment.

Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.

Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s set of values and accepted standards.

Ability to be self motivated to perform a task using his or her own drive or initiative.
