Job Purpose Statement: 

We are looking for multiple highly motivated and dynamic people to be a Site Coordinator for the CSASL after-school program. The job of Site Coordinator serves as the coordinator for the after-school program at Mid Valley Elementary School, Parkdale Elementary School and Wy'east Middle School. Some of the job duties include managing a small staff of instructors, communicating with school staff and families, scheduling and coordinating academic and enrichment activities, scheduling busses, coordinating recess and meal time procedures, making student discipline decisions with the support of the CSASL Program Director. The Site Coordinator will work with the CSASL Program Director, school administrator and teachers to design a highly engaging after-school program that reinforces the school-day lessons in an exciting and hands-on way. Emphasis will be placed on academic and enrichment activities such as art, music, STEAM, physical education, history, and culture. The Site Coordinator will seek out opportunities to partner with local businesses and community members to enrich the after-school program.

Essential Duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting program objectives, developing methods for improvements and/or reinforcing program goals in the home environment.
  • Assists other staff for the purpose of implementing CSASL grant objectives.
  • Assists CSASL Program Director with recruitment and selection of program instructors and assistants, and completing required state grant reporting in a timely manner.
  • Schedules and organizes instructors and enrichment activities, for the purpose of meeting the CSASL program goals for participant enrichment.
  • Assists other staff for the purpose of implementing program objectives.
  • Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes through age appropriate/culturally and interest-diverse/ enrichment activities, developing solutions and planning activities.
  • Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through enrichment activities.
  • Provides direction to program instructors, volunteers and/or assistants for the purpose of providing an effective after school program and addressing the needs of individual and groups of students.
  • Monitors student activities (e.g. group activities, homework, gym, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe, appropriate and optimal learning environment.
  • Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code, district and/or school policies.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance and is on time for assignments for the purpose of meeting the needs of the students and the district.

 Other Job Functions:

  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Participates in various meetings (e.g. conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting credential requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison between school administration, instructors and the parents having students in the CSASL after school program.

 Essential Job Requirements - Qualifications:

  • Experience Required: Prior experience in program oversight or management.
  • Experience with recruitment and coordination of instructors and volunteers.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
  • Possess the equivalent of 72 quarter credits of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university; a Bachelor’s Degree (preferred); or have a passing score on the CBEST or PRAXIS Para-Professional exam.

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

  • Skills to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance. Strong bookkeeping, recordkeeping and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework and education code. 
  • Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedule and deadlines. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision.

Job Requirements: 

  • Experience Required: Minimum of one year job related experience or education in accounting, financial or statistical records maintenance. Preference will be given to applicants with two years or more of school-related secretary/bookkeeping experience.  
  • Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent.

Compensation will be made through an Extra Duty Stipend; the amount will vary depending on hiring and division of work; the stipend will be paid monthly over the remainder of the school year.
