Purpose of Position Definition:Position is established for the purpose of giving the citizens of Hood County a means to properly dispose of recyclables and bulk waste, to reduce illegal dumping and to assist in completing the matrix reduce, reuse and recycle.

Examples of Important Responsibilities and Duties—Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Determine amount of waste entering the facility and assess appropriate fee.

2. Accept payment and make change.

3. Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times.

4. Ability to respond and perform public assistance around work sites.

5. Answers questions and give appropriate information to ensure disposal of different types of bulk waste and recyclables into the appropriate containers.

6. Assist the public with questions concerning waste disposal.

7. Operates equipment: cardboard baler, recycle compaction unit, fork lift and County vehicle (TX Class C driver license required).

8. Sweep debris and remove spills as necessary to ensure a safe work environment and basic cleaning of facility.

9. Knowledge and ability to operate, in a safe and effective manner, light

duty power equipment such as, but not limited to, weed eater, mower,

sprayer, etc.

10. Communicate in an effective professional manner using tact and

consideration for the public.

Qualifications

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, stand, sit crouch, count money, and problem solve.

Experience and Training Guidelines: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be.

License or Certificate: Class C driver license, High School Diploma or equivalent.

Working Conditions

: Exposure to climatic conditions of wind, dust, heat and cold for extended periods of time. Exposure to solid waste and smells.
