Honor Community Health is Hiring a Dentist (Part-Time) Near Pontiac, MI

Honor Community Health is a 501c Federally Qualified Health Center. Our mission is to provide for the health and wellness needs of the underserved of Oakland County through the provision of comprehensive, integrated primary, behavioral health, and dental care. We see all populations regardless of their ability to pay. Honor Community Health is a rapidly growing organization co-located within 20 locations. Position Description

The part time, Dentist is an essential member of a high performing dental center team. The Dentist is responsible for providing dental care consistent with accepted professional standards, including diagnosis, preventative, operative, prosthetic, surgical and other pathologic dental procedures. The Dentist will adhere to HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH policies and procedures in accordance with the policies established by Honor Community Health. The Dentist will work collaboratively to create and maintain a culture of excellence and dedication to providing compassionate and high quality dental care to residents and the community.

This position reports to the Director, Dental Services. Our standard hours are Our standard hours are Monday- Friday, 8:00am-5:00PM. Hours may vary depending on the site and position. This position is for our Dental site in Pontiac.

Responsibilities

  • Performs dental examinations, procedures, and prescribes medications to patients as needed, including restoration of teeth, constructing dentures and dental appliances.
  • Effectively and efficiently completes all charting requirements for billing and dental records compliance utilizing HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH’s electronic health record system.
  • Performs and analyzes oral radiographs for diagnostic purposes
  • Protects patients’ oral health by diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries, abnormalities of teeth and gums, including dental surgery, extraction of teeth and roots, removal of impacted teeth and necessary alveoplasty.
  • Advises and educates patients on good oral and physical health practices.
  • Ensures patients receive educational materials that pertain to their dental health needs.
  • Refers patients to specialists when required and in accordance with their insurance requirements.
  • Performs procedures on patients as needed. Develops and implements plan of care to ensure high quality, cost effective dental care.
  • Ensures all patient charts are completed within 48 hours of the patient visit, and the charting is comprehensive.
  • Regularly advises the leadership team on issues regarding dental operations and patient care to include staffing, data collection and interpretation, clinic flow, appointment systems, client recall process, ancillary services and customer satisfaction.
  • Advises leadership team of procedures and clinical programming that would improve the continuum of patient care in an ambulatory setting.
  • Active participant in HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH’s Performance Improvement Process, Provider meetings and Continuous Quality Improvement committee and other local and state wide meetings as requested.
  • Ability to formulate decisions and make judgments that are demanding and interpretative.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with members of the leadership team, Board, business associates and community groups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What are we looking for?

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree and licensed to practice in State of Michigan
  • Must have DEA registration and CPR certification.
  • Must be insurable as a dentist for liability coverage. P
  • refer progressively responsible management experience in dental care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of health care delivery in an FQHC setting preferred.
  • A minimum of two or more years in a similar dental practice preferred. Familiarity with OSHA standards and requirements.
  • Knowledge of the recent and established techniques and practices of dentistry.
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Electronic Dental Records (NextGen preferred) and knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
