We are seeking a highly qualified Sr. Manager – Software Development in our Broomfield, Colorado location. Our software team is responsible for a wide range of products that control and provide access to our best-in-class quantum computers. The leader will support and manage a diverse team that works on everything from Cloud development to real-time control software. End-users range from experimental physicists in the laboratory to our renowned quantum software and algorithms teams. Key Responsibilities:

• Establish strategic plans for the technical department, including

1. Technical scope – milestones, inchstones, key decision points
2. Key handoffs with technical partners – Chief Engineers, Commercial Products team, and Cambridge Quantum.
3. Interdependencies with other technical and cross-functional departments

• Own and manage programmatic execution of the above plans, including

1. Tracking and reporting of progress against the plan (with Program Management)
2. Resource allocation and prioritization to meet the milestones
3. Risk/opportunity identification and management
4. Accountability for all department results (technical performance, scope, schedule, cost) and interdependencies with partner organizations

• Identify department-level staffing needs and fill key gaps via

1. Mentorship, training, and managing of first-level managers
2. Hiring, Cross-training
3. Management and talent resource reviews
4. Real-time coaching and feedback
5. Succession planning
6. Skip-level meetings

• Mature the software development processes for a diverse team that must move quickly while maintaining high quality commercial deliverables.
