We are seeking Director of Technical Program Managementin our Broomfield, CO or Golden Valley, MN to join the Offering, Product and Program Management team working directly with development teams to design and build best-in-class ion trap quantum computing hardware.

In this role, the Director of Program management will (1) be a leader of a small team of program managers on the development of next generation quantum systems and components, (2) directly have hands-on engagement of managing complex projects and roadmaps, and (3) scale and grow the program management organization through practice, process, and enablement development and deployment, with a data-informed, metrics-driven, results-oriented, and right-sized mindset.

Through hand-on leadership, the Director will identify opportunities and organization needs, then develop the strategy for the development and deployment of key enablers and process improvements meant to reduce non-value added tasks, increase productivity, and continuously improve the way development program are run. Most of the people the Director will work with will not report to him/her. A successful candidate will have positive prior experience leading through influence up, down, and across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the technology portion of Long Range Planning (LRP) and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) activities including planning, budgeting, strategy, documenting assumptions, risk and risk mitigation, gap and gap closure, and reporting to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.

Lead and mentor small team of program managers and subject matter experts to enable and deploy best practices in program management, productivity enablement, and continuous improvement

Provide technical and programmatic leadership by supporting staffing plans, hiring, budgeting, capital process, asset management, finance processes, IT strategies, IP strategies. subcontract/supplier management, and any special projects

Lead large and complex technical trades , critical decisions, and end-of-task retrospectives

Institutionalize lessons learned and continuous improvements

Drive execution of complex development programs for on-schedule completion while managing a sustainable workflow pace

Establish operating system for technology development, including a strategic framework and practices to assess technology gaps and readiness

Establish operating system for improving and maturing right-sized, results-oriented development processes

Own, deploy, iterate, and improve on all standard program management practices including budgeting, planning, milestone and schedule tracking, risk management, and reporting. You will be responsible for developing and tracking meaningful metrics to measure business progress in these areas.

With technical and product leaders, develop and maintain technology roadmaps to enable and align with product roadmaps.

Travel up to 25% as needed.
