The Resource Circularity & Lifecycle Business Development team is focused on establishing a lifecycle (circular economy) business that will be the foundation of Honda's future business and enhance the long lasting relationship with customers. This team's mission is to plan and carry out tasks of developing new business offerings comprised of services and products that increase value of the customer's experience during the period they own the car. The business addresses value-added products and services throughout the vehicle's lifecycle - from the recycled and sustainable materials of a new car, purchase and owning of the car, and the recycling of the car at the end of its use.
The Assistant Manager, Resource Circularity Business Planning, will be responsible to execute and lead business development activities for Honda to achieve full circularity of our vehicles. This activity will focus on leading the initiative to partner with various partners within the end-of-life vehicle value chain. As the project lead, this associate will apply knowledge and experience to formulate strategies by analyzing the current value chain and plan for the collection and acquisition of end-of-life vehicles. He/She will validate business development themes or hypotheses, with automotive and automotive parts supply chain focus, to achieve the desired business outcome.
The Assistant Manager will work with members of the department, and others across the organization to develop business plans and business feasibility studies in support of the lifecycle business development team. The role is looked to in the BU as a business planning lead and is responsible for the implementation of assigned projects.
Key Accountabilities:
Develops business plans for a successful acquisition of end-of-life vehicles to contribute to the completion of resource circularity and sustainability of Honda products. In the course of developing the business plans, the Lead will assess Honda's current value chain in North America, and validate the potential success of commercialization in a circular economy state.
Develops a robust understanding of supply chain requirements and behaviors. Understands the automotive retail, recycling and recycled material industry to propose fact-based solutions and partnership opportunities.
Creates business flow and implements first mass-scale collection end-of-life vehicles by identifing key elements (e.g., capabilities, resources) necessary, leading to successful commercialization and full-scale expansion.
Develops revenue and cost models and financial forecasts for proposed products/services. Validates that the potential business can meet the financial expectations that Honda has for investment.
Acts as team lead for successful and on-time implementation of assigned projects.
Regularly reports status to stakeholders summarizing and presenting key learnings, recommending next steps.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills:
Minimum Educational Requirements:
BA/BS in Engineering OR Business
MBA a plus
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 5 - 10 years of business plan development and successful and program launches
Minimum 5 - 10 years of experience with cross-functional teams including supply chain and business teams
Experience at an automotive OEM, automotive supply chain, automotive tier 1 supplier or automotive recycling industry
Excellent negotiation, research, communication and presentation skills
Excellent financial analysis skills
Ability to think big picture and out of the box
Experience in strategy development
Honda or automotive industry-specific knowledge across all product lines (preferred)
Other Job-Specific Skills:
Strong proficiency with MS Office is required, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
Strong presenter and confident in interacting with all levels of management.
Excellent teamwork skills for both NA and GO offices and associates.
Driver’s license required and ability to operate a diverse assortment of automobiles. Proficiency with manual transmission is preferred but not required.
Decisions Expected:
Daily executional task decisions for assigned projects.
Set realistic and executionable project schedules in accordance with Level 4 themes.
Recommendations on alternative methods to improve project execution.
