POSITION: National Art Honor Society – Head Sponsor START DATE: 2022-2023 School Year SALARY: Per the negotiated agreement REQUIREMENTS: Professional Educator’s License (PEL) as required by the State of IL. DESCRIPTION: The National Art Honor Society to insure and recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in art. Students are eligible after completing three semesters of art. NAHS members must maintain a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale in their art classes. After becoming a member at the NAHS Induction, students meet twice a month to finish projects, matte work, and prepare pieces to be displayed. Artwork is displayed at school and Starbucks. Student work is also presented at the annual NAHS Art Show, where students are judged by a secret panel. Activities include college visits, museum and gallery trips, and art-related community service. NAHS foster excellence and a dedicated spirit to the pursuit of art, further creative abilities and talents of the members, as well as the school’s entire student enrollment. The chapter will aid members in working toward the attainment of their highest potential in an art area and bring art to the attention of the school and community. NAHS will help increase an awareness of art in relation to other areas of the school curriculum while furthering awareness in all aspects of the school’s total program.
