Homewise is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods and building wealth through homeownership. We empower our clients through education and create unique plans to help families reach their goal of becoming homeowners. We are seeking driven Barelas community residents interested in furthering our mission of creating successful homeowners and strengthening neighborhoods. 

We are seeking to hire two Community Survey Team Members. The mission of the Community Survey Team is to conduct surveys with Albuquerque residents living in the Barelas neighborhood through a combination of door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, physical building observations, and block-by-block observation of the neighborhood to help inform Homewise’s future efforts in the neighborhood. This is a temporary, hourly position, approximately 3-6 hours/week, for a minimum of eight weeks, mid-April – August 2024, but the schedule may change depending on how quickly surveying progresses.

The Community Survey Team Member is responsible for carrying out the following duties:

• Survey community residents and businesses through door-to-door canvassing and phone banking.

• Effectively track all data gathered in outreach using an app-based system and tablets provided by Homewise.

• Provide reports on all outreach efforts to the Community Development Team.

• Facilitate positive communication and relationship building between Homewise and community members.

• Block-by-block observation of the physical conditions of the neighborhood, including parcel observations (100 total)

• Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Competencies

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Willing to work flexible hours (late afternoons/evenings (3 pm-7 pm) and Saturdays (9 am-12 pm)
  • Must be able to provide own transportation for canvassing. You may also need to use your own laptop/computer and/or cell phone for phone banking, but your personal number will be disguised.
  • Customer service. Extremely responsive to internal and external requests. Abides by Homewise, Inc. Customer Service Standards. Excellent note-taking skills.
  • Listening skills. Listens to understand other's viewpoints. Anticipates team needs and offers innovative solutions.
