RECREATION SUPERVISOR

We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Recreation Supervisor to join our team! Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Recreation Supervisor for our City Sanctuary Facility for Families w/ Children in Staten Island, NY. As the Recreation Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, overseeing the performance of our dedicated Recreation Specialist and ensuring a nurturing and enriching environment for the families at our facility. ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS, INC. 

Homes for the Homeless, Inc. (HFH) is a non-profit social services organization operating family shelters throughout NYC that serve as a hub of opportunity for families both residing in the shelters as well as those in the neighboring community. On-site programs range from childcare, early childhood education centers, after-school clubs and programs, and youth recreation activities, such as sports teams, to housing assistance, case management, parenting workshops, career and job vocational training, support groups and substance abuse assistance, and family engagement and recreation events for the whole family. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and implement a wide range of recreational activities and programs suitable for families and children, including sports, arts and crafts, outdoor, and educational activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments and community partners to organize and promote special events and workshops.
  • Create and manage a comprehensive schedule of events, ensuring a variety of options to cater to different ages, interests, and abilities. 
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, program evaluation, and prepare regular reports for management.
  • Hire and train staff. 
  • Competency in youth development. 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Fluency in languages other than English, particularly Spanish, strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills. 
  • This position requires flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate program schedule and special events.
  • Experience leading activities with children, teens, and adults.
