    NOTICE OF OPEN POSITION
    POSTING DATE: Thursday, April 7 –Wednesday, April 13 2022
    CLASSIFICATION: Para Educator (Category 2)
    1-Individual Aide
    LOCATION/SUPERVISOR: DISTRICT
    CURRENT BUILDING: Sonoma Elementary
    SUPERVISOR Shalen King-Short, Principal
    PAY RATE: Per Master Contract - $12.64/ hour
    May earn an additional .25 cents / hour premium with an associate’s degree or higher education or passage of the MTTC (or equivalent) test in reading, writing, and math
    HOURS OF WORK: 8:30am – 3:45pm (approximately) on day’s school is in session
    STARTING DATE: Immediately
    QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. The individual must have: an excellent attendance record, reliable transportation, be self-motivated, positive, and team-oriented with the ability to work cooperatively with staff and students. Must be able to meet multiple demands from several people. Must perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
    Must have completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education; or obtained an associates (or higher) degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (ETS or WorkKeys test).
    RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: This person works under the supervision of the teacher(s) and assists in the special education students’ daily educational/behavioral program. Observe student behaviors and work with the teacher to correct inappropriate student behavior. Understand and be aware of medical needs of the student(s). Assist the student(s) with assigned work in the general education or special education classroom. Assist student in non-instructional classroom activities including physical education, music, library, art, lunch, etc. classes. Assist in meeting the physical needs and demands of the students in the non-instructional setting. May assist with loading and unloading of the student on the bus; sanitation of room and equipment; assist student with assigned work in the general education classroom; may need to repeat classroom directions, as necessary, communicate student’s task completions to teacher.
    SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises student within the parameters given by the teacher(s) and/or the Student’s IEP during the student’s school day, may include during specials classes.
    PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift up to 40 lbs. individually push or pull up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The position is exposed to infection and injury at a greater risk than the average person.
