Home Forward is Hiring a Rent Assistance Services Coordinator Near Multnomah County, OR

Home Forward is seeking multiple Rent Assistance Services Coordinators (RASCs) to support Home Forward's mission, operational objectives, and community in the following ways:
  • Coordinate and perform leasing case coordination for programs like Section 8, Family Self Sufficiency (FSS), Opportunities Housing Initiative (OHI), etc.
  • Determine Program Eligibility
  • Coordinate Housing Inspections
  • Address Program Violations and Initiate Terminations
  • Explain complex rules, regulations, and policies to applicants and participants
  • Perform technical and administrative tasks in support of these programs
As needed, selected individuals may be assigned to one of the following teams:
The Project Based Voucher (PBV) Team administers Project Based Voucher contracts and PBV rent assistance subsidies to participants living at these properties to 120 properties within Multnomah County (with new contracts being added every year). Our team of 7 RASCs, 3 Analysts and 1 supervisor work directly with owners, property managers, program participants and community stakeholders to help applicants obtain and maintain safe and stable housing, while ensuring that our property owners are following program guidelines. Most of our buildings house homeless families, veterans, families experiencing domestic violence and other vulnerable populations. 
Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) TeamOur Team of 7 RASCs and 1 supervisor works with ongoing participants. RASCs process regular and interim recertifications, rent increases, transfers, terminations and repayment agreements. The team also responds to participants questions and concerns via the phone and e-mail. Like with any other assistance programs, we serve a lot of participants belonging to vulnerable populations.
The Homeless Initiatives Team administers special purpose vouchers that serve specific populations, such as youth, families, veterans, families experiencing domestic violence and people with disabilities. These special purpose vouchers consist of administrating the Housing Choice Voucher program also known as Section 8. The specialized piece is applicant intake referrals that provide successful lease-up and leveraging housing resources with service from community partners to maximize housing retention for program participants. Our team works closely with specific partner agencies to build trust and maintain strong partnerships for the benefit of program participants to remain successfully household. In this context, the incumbent in this position will collaborate with others at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders in the consideration of significant goals, concepts, initiatives, and other activities that profoundly affect Home Forward, its employees, and the people that it serves.TO APPLY AND SEE THE FULL JOB DESCRIPTION:  CLICK HERE.

Education and Experience Guidelines:

Three (3) years of increasingly responsible work experience in customer services, including one (1) year of experience in social services with an emphasis in direct client work that supported individuals, families, or case coordination required (a related degree may substitute for work experience requirement).An Associate's degree in social services or directly related field preferred. Knowledge of the RAD program is helpful but not required. Home Forward recognizes that knowledge, skills, and experience may be gained through lived experience as well as education, professional experience, volunteering, or other means.
