Home Power Systems is a Generac, Kohler, and Cummins generator dealer with locations in Buffalo, Farmington, and Syracuse, NY. HPS is the leading installer of automatic home standby generators in Western and Central New York has installed over 5,000 home standby generators and has over 10,000 current service and preventive maintenance customers.

Home Power systems are looking to expand our generator installation team and are currently seeking Generator Service Technicians to repair and maintain residential automatic standby power generator systems.

Salary Range: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

• Performing scheduled maintenance visits and repairs on standby generators and related equipment
• Warranty repairs and emergency service calls
• Helping senior technicians with generator installations
• Transporting generator parts and equipment in a company vehicle
• Threading and installing gas pipe
• Basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
• Final inspection of the site (generator and yard must be clean and properly leveled)
• Light electrical/ generator service calls
• Loading and transport of equipment
• Maintaining a clean and organized warehouse
• Adhere to NEC codes
• Inspect electrical components including wiring, panels, voltage, etc...
• Use testing devices to identify and report electrical problems
• Educate customers and provide excellent customer service
• Use hand and power tools
• Adhere to state and local building regulations
• Perform all work in a manner that meets and follows codes and standards
• Complete required documentation of installations as per company policy and directive
• Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and parts
• Calibrate equipment to provided specifications
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures

Qualifications:

• Experience working on gas engines or electrical wiring is a plus.
• 1yr hands-on experience with generator installation, repair, and troubleshooting up to 45kw, single-phase generators
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills
• Experience working on gas engines or electrical wiring is a plus
• Problem-solving and Critical thinking abilities
• Have great time-management capabilities and detail-oriented
• Must be professional, reliable, and hard-working
• Understand and follow written and oral instruction
• Familiarity with tools and equipment
• Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, kneel & lift 70 lbs
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Must be able to multi-task and work independently as well as contribute to the overall success of the team
• Must have a valid driver’s license, possess, and maintain a satisfactory driving record
