Position Title:

Substitute Teacher

Summary:

To help students transition in to the educational environment with the goal of mastering skills sets that are appropriate for their age and maturity level.

REQUIRED:

Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.

A minimum of three years related experience.

Must possess valid driver’s license

PREFERRED:

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Understanding of the vision and values of Sacred Heart Southern Missions with a commitment to achieve the goals of the organization.

· Ability to plan and develop age appropriate activities related to the school’s curriculum.

· Ability to work and interact with other staff members to accomplish overall organizational and departmental goals.

· Excellent oral, written interpersonal communication and decision-making skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

· Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google programs.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision/instruction. Able to establish and meet deadlines.

· Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

· Working knowledge of the structures and operations of the Roman Catholic Church is desirable.

Key Job Responsibilities:

· Follows daily lesson plan as left by regular teacher.

· Take attendance and supervise students during classroom, meal and play times.

· Reinforce the acquisition of appropriate social skills, discipline in accordance with the school’s policy and in a way that helps students grow in self-control.

· Maintain appropriate room arrangement, and orderly room, and safe environment, use sanitary procedures daily, keep students reasonably clean, inform parents of health-related ailments, report any accident/injury that occur, check for dangerous/unsafe situations on the playground, provide constant supervision of students.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands/Conditions:

· Work is generally in a school setting with outside activities in varying conditions.

· Some work with computer requires sitting for some periods; using hands to handle objects, lift objects or materials of up to 30 pounds.

· Will be walking, stooping, bending, reaching and sitting for extended periods may be required as a normal part of the job.

· To successfully accomplish the essential job functions of the position, the employee must be able to read, write and speak in English, and operate a computer.
